Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
2️⃣ Prepare the beef mixture: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
3️⃣ Add the garlic & beef: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
4️⃣ Make the cheese sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream. Gradually whisk in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
5️⃣ Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
6️⃣ Combine ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix the cooked pasta, beef mixture, ketchup, mustard, and cheese sauce. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
7️⃣ Assemble & bake: Transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle additional shredded cheese on top if desired.
8️⃣ Bake to perfection: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
9️⃣ Garnish & serve: Optionally, top with chopped pickles, turkey bacon bits, or more cheese before serving. Enjoy this cheesy, comforting delight while warm!
Notes
- Pasta Choice: Penne and macaroni hold the sauce well, but any short pasta works!
- Extra Creaminess: Add a splash of milk if the cheese sauce gets too thick.
- Spice it up: Try adding a dash of hot sauce or red pepper flakes for extra kick.
