Ingredients
Dry Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour – The base for soft, tender pancakes.
- 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder – Helps the pancakes rise and become fluffy.
- ½ teaspoon salt – Enhances the flavor and balances sweetness.
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar – Adds a hint of sweetness.
Wet Ingredients:
- 1 ¼ cups milk (any type) – Creates a smooth, creamy batter.
- 1 large egg – Helps bind the ingredients and gives structure.
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted – Adds richness and flavor.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) – Brings a warm, aromatic touch.
Optional Add-Ins:
- Blueberries, chocolate chips, or banana slices – For extra flavor.
- Cinnamon or nutmeg – Adds a subtle spice.
Instructions
1️⃣ Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined. Make a well in the center and set aside.
2️⃣ Combine the Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl or measuring cup, whisk the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract (if using) until smooth.
3️⃣ Gently Mix the Batter:
Pour the wet ingredients into the well of the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a whisk or spatula until just combined. Don’t overmix—a few lumps are fine. Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes to allow the baking powder to activate.
4️⃣ Preheat and Grease the Pan:
Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease the surface with butter or cooking spray.
5️⃣ Cook the Pancakes:
Pour ¼ cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
Cook for 2–3 minutes, until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set.
Flip carefully and cook for 1–2 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
6️⃣ Serve and Enjoy:
Stack the pancakes on a plate and serve warm with butter, syrup, or your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
Notes
- For extra fluffy pancakes, avoid overmixing the batter.
- Resting the batter helps create a lighter texture.
- Use low heat if pancakes brown too quickly before cooking through.
